APEX BANK ACQUIRES ICONIC RIVERVIEW TOWER, RETURNING DOWNTOWN LANDMARK TO LOCAL OWNERSHIP
Knoxville, Tennessee—April 7, 2026
Apex Bank, the #1 community bank in Tennessee, as ranked by ICBA, has acquired the 24-story office building known as Riverview Tower at 900 S. Gay Street. The landmark transaction includes the connected 421-space parking garage and returns the city’s second-tallest building to local ownership for the first time in decades.
“We are proud to make this investment because we believe deeply in Knoxville’s future,” said Dave Miller, CEO of Apex Bank. “With 95 years of history and our headquarters in this city, we are honored to own this landmark, reaffirming our commitment to the people and places we serve.”
As one of Knoxville’s premier Class A office environments, the 24-story tower offers over 334,000 square feet of modern workspace with panoramic views of the Tennessee River and Great Smoky Mountains. The acquisition signals Apex Bank’s confidence in Knoxville’s economic trajectory and the ongoing revitalization of the downtown core.
“This acquisition is about more than real estate; it is a strategic investment in the city we call home,” said Matt Daniels, Chairman. “Bringing Riverview Tower under local ownership for the first time in decades ensures that a cornerstone of Knoxville’s skyline remains tied to the growth and stability of a local institution.”
Apex Bank will occupy a portion of the building while maintaining the existing tenant base, preserving the tower’s role as a regional hub for the financial, legal, and technology sectors.
